New Guide of the National Museum of Fine Arts Permanent Colections



Ten years after its first pocket edition, the 2006 version is now available.
Printed in pocket format, the new guide's 120 full-color pages and over 200 photographs illustrate the Museum's exhibition rooms one by one, and guide you through the new curatorial and museographic script, completed in April 2005. The ground-floor is devoted to International Art, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century; on the second floor, you'll find Argentine Art of the 19th and 20th centuries, the permanent exhibit of Andean pre-Columbine art, the Tables of the Spanish Conquest and the collection donated by the Bemberg family. The next floor houses the photographs collection and the sculpture terraces. Each room is illustrated with several photographs that enable the visitor to appreciate the collections importance and their installation.

A concise text introduces each theme and proposes historical and esthetic reference literature. A color icon appears on all pages and introduces additional information on the works and the artists, or guides the visitor to another room to help him establish a link with the theme, the history or the formal nature of what he just saw, in the manner of the web's links….

The guide has been conceived to carry in your hand while you visit the Museum: the titles of didactic texts on the museum's walls are mirrored in the guide, making it easy to locate each exhibit. A comprehensive critical-historic essay provides information on the Museum's origins, its collections and narrates the current script of permanent exhibits.

Licensee María José Herrera wrote the script and was responsible for the project's general coordination while research was conducted by María Florencia Galesio and Pablo De Monte (assistant).
Alberto G. Bellucci designed and directed the overall project.
